      The country CLU Head is a senior leadership role in CCB which manages the credit underwriting team, approves credit facilities and is responsible for the overall lending process. Key responsibilities include: 

      Supervision: 

      1. Coordinate activities of CLM analysts to ensure efficient credit process and fast turnaround  

      2. Support Analysts in terms of credit risk assessment and transaction structuring  

      3. Coordinate and partner with Sales and Independent Risk Management, to establish priorities for Analysts in terms of processing annual credit reviews and new transactions 

      4. Provide guidance to Analysts and become a point of reference for team on interpretation, application and compliance to Global Commercial Credit Policies 

      Approvals 

      1. Sponsor, recommend and approve credits facilities both as a first approver and as a final approver up to the authority delegated to CLM under CCB policies 

      Lending Process Management  

      1. Maintain strong focus on turnaround time (TAT) to improve client experience and minimize adverse selection 

      2. Make recommendations to Country and Regional seniors to improve credit processes 

      3. Encourage a risk differentiated approach to achieve efficient underwriting and lower TAT 

      4. Manage implementation of critical credit systems such as CitiRisk and CRM  

      Staffing & Development  

      1. Sets appropriate goals and provides timely feedback, coaching, training and development assignments to motivate staff and to drive superior performance 

      2. Attracts and retains quality talent from inside or outside the Bank as required 

      3. Trains, develops and coaches team members to become strong Credit Officers and serve as a talent pool for both CCB Risk and the Coverage teams 

      Shared Responsibilities 

      1. Work with the country CCB Head on sales and credit matters, including lending process management, internal and external audits.  

      2. Act as a link between Sales and Risk to facilitate strong cooperation to achieve business goals 

      3. Partner with Relationship Managers in customer meetings, engaging clients’ senior managers, as well as with external advisors and consultants for credit matters 

      4. Work with Independent Risk to monitor external environment for any potential emerging risks 

      5. Partner with Risk to recommend restructuring activity for classified facilities (if necessary)

      The Role Responsibilities 

       

      Business 

      Provide direct support to GAM/RM on the Credit Functions on all credit related matters: 

      •Provide timely credit analysis - client’s industry, risk aspects, competitive position, mgmt strength, balance sheet, cash flows etc 

      •Ensure alignment with the bank’s credit policy and procedure 

      •Complete Group Mandate/BCA Part 1, Part 2, financial analysis/spreads, scorecards, ESRA, FM A&S & GWWR checklist  

      •Test and monitor Covenants & Risk Triggers  

      •Submit EAR & ASTAR reporting/updates to credit  

      •Prepare country specific regulatory check-lists (where applicable)  

      •Proactively manage portfolio & allocation of limits 

      •Evaluate risks associated with particular proposed transactions, where required 

       

      Processes 

      •Work with RMs to manage RWA, identify underutilized limits 

      •Prepare timely Stress Tests wherever required 

      •Provide support on Regulatory stress tests conducted annually 

      •Prepare specific industry study 

      •Ensure satisfactory Audit completion, both internal and regulatory 

      •Ensure timely and accurate submission of Regulatory Returns / Data 

      Work on specific request from custody for limits (only FI specific) 

      Prepare Credit Opinion reports wherever required. 

       

      Risk Management 

      •Ensure timely submission of quality Quarterly Credit Reports 

      •Monitor Risk Triggers, Covenants and other credit conditions and report appropriately 

      •Ensure Zero BCA over dues 

      •Liaise with Credit on BCA and other credit issues and ensure quick turnaround on queries 

      •Attend EA/Portfolio call/MTM calls along with the Senior/ Banker/ Client Manager 

      •In partnership with the Senior/Banker/Client Manager, ensure timely identification of accounts to be put in EA as per the bank’s policies and guidelines 

       

      Regulatory & Business conduct  

      •Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct 

      •Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct 

      •Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters 

       

      Key Stakeholders 

      •Global or Regional or Country Product partners e.g. FM, CF and TB 

      •Global or Regional or Country Function partners e.g. Risk, Compliance, COO, HR, Finance and Corporate Affairs 

      •Global or Regional or Country management team members if required
