      The British Office Taipei is recruiting a Prosperity Officer to support the work of the Economic and Prosperity Section. A key part of the role will be managing the UK Government’s Prosperity Fund in Taiwan which aims to help deepen cooperation in science and innovation, share experience on tackling climate change, and help UK firms tackle market access barriers. You will work with the Prosperity Fund Lead to ensure programme funds are spent effective and achieve value for money. 

       

      You will also be responsible for providing a range of administrative support to Economic and Prosperity Section. In particular you will support the Market Access Lead’s work to to reduce barriers faced by UK businesses in Taiwan. The will also be opportunities to get involved in the wider work of the Prosperity Team, including supporting research and analysis work on a variety of issues.

      Roles and responsibilities: 

      Prosperity Fund management 

      • Administer the procurement and bidding process, publicising the fund and collecting bids from potential implementers 

      • Be a first point of contact for questions relating to the Prosperity Fund 

      • Liaise with project-implementers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. 

      • Administer budgets and prepare regular (monthly, quarterly and year-end) financial reports on projects to be shared with the London programme team. 

      • Monitor the progress of projects, helping ensure they deliver the agreed outcomes. 

      • Manage financial issues, including supplier set up, raising requisitions, checking invoices and receipts. 

      • Use Prism (IT tool) to record expenditure. Liaise with the Corporate Services team and the PRISM team in Manila to resolve issues 

      Support to the Market Access Lead and wider team support 

      • Provide administrative assistance for the Market Access Lead including helping with analysis of market barriers, and carrying out project support work. 

      • Research work on a range of issues including climate change (a key priority for the UK with Glasgow to host the COP26 climate meeting in 2021), science and tech, economic and trade figures. Full guidance and support will be provided. 

      • Arranging meetings, booking rooms and transport, supporting event planning, taking notes of meetings, drafting short letters, finalising formal documents, and other administrative tasks as needed.

      Main purpose of job:

      Prosperity Fund management 

       

      Manage the delivery of the UK-Taiwan Prosperity Fund programme (around £200K), working closely with project leads in Economic and Prosperity Section and across the British Office, ensuring funds are spent effectively and achieve value for money.  

      Oversee the project bidding, tendering and approval processes, including chairing Prosperity Fund Board meetings with senior management in the British Office to review potential projects. 

      Devise and lead the implementation of tech-related Prosperity Fund projects to support the Tech Policy aspect of your role. 

      Report programme progress and outcomes to Prosperity Fund leads in London. 

      Oversee the work of the A2L Prosperity Officer who will lead the day-to-day administration of the Fund, monitoring budgets and helping to ensure projects deliver agreed outcomes. 

      Tech Policy Lead 

       

      Monitor and report on key technology developments and emerging trends in Taiwan, including analysis of interactions with regional and global economic and trade issues, and impacts on supply chains, working closely with colleagues in the British Office, in the region and in London. 

      Develop a wide network of relationships with tech experts in the private sector, Taiwanese authorities, academia and media, to inform your analysis.

      Position Overview: 

      Provide accurate and timely reporting and analysis on SHL TW product costs to support business decision-making. You will play a key role in checking product costs accuracy, verifying the postings from system and analyzing/forecasting cost variances. 

      On top of that, you are required to perform ad hoc analysis to assist management in identifying new business opportunities, implementing improvement schemes for process and procedures optimization within the organization. 

       

      Responsibilities: 

      • Understand in depth Corporate SAP cost module and maintain most updated and accurate cost information. 

      • Manage Cost Centers, in relationship with work center, function area and assessment cycle set up based on existing business operation. 

      • Prepare manufacturing budget plan and till the final issuance of new standard cost. Job also covers off budget cycle manufacturing activity rate calculation and update to SAP. 

      • Check material movement and review scrap to assure proper inventory transaction and accurate inventory status. 

      • Review department expense and production order status. Manage cross charge and allocation rule and their cost impact to ready for month end manufacturing cost calculation. 

      • Involve in Costing month end closing process and fully understand the operation need. The end goal could be able to exercise the closing independently. 

      • Provide manufacturing variance report and communicate root cause and further support on improvement opportunity. 

      • Provide analysis report, includes but not limit to scrap, slow moving, rework and abnormal cost follow up. 

      • Provide real time support to internal request regarding manufacturing activity analysis and suggestion. 

      • Incorporate with CPA audit and other ad hoc projects or finance requests, i.e. provision.
